Breaking The Belief That You Are Not Follow Worthy

Why Not Me??

I had a million reasons WHY NOT….. are you kidding me?

I had more reasons WHY NOT than I ever could think of why someone would want to follow me.

Why would anyone want to follow me? I have no clue what I am doing. No one wants to hear what you have to say. Don’t be a bother. Who do you think you are?

These are some of the limiting beliefs that I used to carry around with me.

When it came to the thought of “putting myself out there”, in my MLM company, in my affiliate marketing companies, and in life. I would put on the breaks.

Many of us were never raised to be in the spotlight, as a matter of fact for many of us drawing what was considered unnecessary attention to ourselves was discouraged.

We tended to want to blend into the crowd so that we were not picked on as kids or thought to be strange or not fit in. Perhaps secretly envying the kids who were brave enough to be their unique unicorn selves.

Many of us, just like you and I grow up, become adults and entrepreneurs, and for the majority of us, becoming someone that others want to follow seems completely foreign, even a little arrogant perhaps.

As a kid I was shy and self-conscious, I used to go as far as keeping a schedule of what I wore to make sure I did not repeat my outfits too soon because I believed EVERYONE WOULD KNOW and would judge me. The idea of putting myself out there to be seen and criticized was one of the scariest things to do in my life.

Do What Scares You The Most…. Who’s crazy idea was that??

Well, as crazy as it may sound, I have found that it actually works.

If you are thinking that perhaps I do not understand where you may be coming from and why the thought of being someone worth following is out of the question, I hope that my opening up and sharing my greatest fears may help you to see that you are follow-worthy too!!

Repeat after me….. Why Not Me??

“Why Not Me??” used to be a million reasons why let me tell ya….

Now, “Why Not Me??” is seeing myself where I want to be. Silencing the negative self-talk and being the person others will follow. Saying “Yeck Ya… Why Not Me!!”

Why Not Me?

So how did I get from being the person I just described above who really wished Facebook had a 4-page application form for my friends to give me the opportunity to see if they were really who I wanted in my world to open up my profile to being public and sharing the real me with my audience?

It happened when I made the switch to it not being about me, my purpose became about others.

Knowing that what I have to offer, what I am sharing is that much bigger than me.

Knowing there are people who are just like me, just a step or two behind me, going through what I have been experiencing.

It is knowing that I do not have to know it all.

Experiencing the positive ways people reacted to what I am sharing and how I am showing.

Seeing that I am able to help others by sharing myself.

When I knew that my getting a little bit uncomfortable was bringing joy to other people, was helping them feel like they were not alone, that they could also do what they set forth to do, that they felt inspired, I felt inspired too.

It is a win-win.

When I started to connect with others on social media and could see that my showing up was making a difference it helped me to feel braver every day. I felt like I had a purpose, a calling, I was becoming follow worthy and I was choosing to do so in a way that felt good to me, expanding in my own comfort zone.

Did this mean that I had to show up as someone that I was not?

Not at all. I simply chose to learn some simple techniques which allow me to show up as myself, to be in alignment with who I am, serve others and make sales.

I realized I did not have to be everything to everyone and this was not only very ok, but it was also a good thing to really be specific about who I was relating to.

I could be me, to other people like me.

Through the act of doing, I realized I was becoming someone worth following.

I did have something worth saying.

I did not need to know it all.

I simply chose to decide who I was serving and how to provide them with value, support, and friendship. I built a know-like and trust relationship with them.

To this day, I am still pleasantly surprised by the reactions I receive when I create a real-life to my story in one of my posts.

Often these are the posts I have the most comments on. Comments with shared feelings, gratitude for my having shared my experience, my tip, my friendship, and myself because doing so was of help to them and brought joy into their day.

When you take a moment and think about the people that you follow, what drew them to you?

What characteristics do they have that you find most appealing?

Ever heard the expression, like attracts like?

So why not you?

There is someone out there right now who could use an amazing person like you to follow. You are so worth it because you are unique, no one else has your experiences, no one else says it as you do, and you are a gift to others waiting to be shared.

If I can do it, so can you. I believe in you. Carla Archer
