"What you think about you bring about." Mary Kay Ash

Here we are in February of 2020. the "back to normal "people talked about is not happening. The truth is we are not going back to business as it was in February 2020. Pope Francis, in his recent book, Let Us Dream wrote, " The basic rule of a crisis is that you don't come out of it the same.

If you get through it, you come out better or worse, but never the same." We are not going back. The Pope further stated this time of rapid change would continue noting, "We are not in an Era of change We are in a Change of Era."

The world is rapidly changing. Daily news is supply chain shortages and record resignations, inflation, and rising Omicron rates. The Gallup Organization also reported on January 7in a report U.S. Employee Engagement Drops for First Year in a Decade that their most recent poll of worker engagement shows a drop to a ten-year low. Korn Ferry, an international leadership consulting group, noted in a recent blog, Now It's the 'Great Retirement ' , reported that "Demographics alone don't account for the more than 3 million people who have retired during the pandemic. And asked, "Can leaders convince boomers to stay on the job?" Many leadership experts describe this period using a term coined by the U.S. Military in 1990 to describe the world as a V.U.C.A. environment. A world marked by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity.

This all could seem reasonably bleak. Here you are a network marketer in the second month of a new quarter of your business year. You are the leader of your business and possibly a downline or sales unit. You are looking at what is going on and maybe worried. You are probably asking two questions. One what is your view for yourself succeeding on your goals? The second question is your view of your network marketing business and your sales team moving forward to a successful year-end? You may feel you are in what leadership expert Mark Miller describes in Smart Leadership: Four Simple Choices to Scale Your Impact as quicksand. He notes you have three choices. You could give up, You could try to stand pat and do nothing and sink, or you could escape. If you look back to March 2020, you probably saw fellow network Marketers in your business choose one or more of these responses. These responses are our choices as the leaders of our Network Marketing business. Miller refers to choice as the leader's superpower. Your choices will determine your direction. Your choices will be determined by how you view things. In 2007 Standford Psychologist Carol Dweck coined the term Mindset in her bestselling book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success Paperback to describe two different views people can have of themselves, our situations, others, and our ability to learn and grow.

She used massive research on varied subjects to determine the two types of mindsets. A person with a Growth Mindset is open to learning from mistakes and success and preserving. A person with a Fixed Mindset person has a fear of failure and risk they don't want to lose what they have. The picture below gives many examples.

In-Network Marketing, you are the C.E.O., the leader of your business, and maybe the leader of others in your sales downline or unit. Your Mindset is vital to how you lead yourself first than those in your ales unit.

The importance of one's mindset was described in a January 2020 Harvard Business Review article To Be a Great Leader; You Need the Right Mindset by Ryan Gottfredson and Chris Reinadescribed Mindset as a" leaders' mental lenses that dictate what information they take in and use to make sense of and navigate the situations they encounter. It is the global way you see things and various lenses through which you see different parts of your life. The critical point here is that how you generally look at the world affects the lenses for specific areas like your network marketing business. "How a network marketer sees things will determine if they move forward or hold on or give up.

"From this crisis, we can come out better or worse. We can slide backward, or we can create something new." Pope Francis Let Us Dream

A Network Marketing Mindset is especially appropriate at this time if not crucial to network marketers. Ryan Rogers, the Chief Investment Officer of Mary Kay Cosmetics , spoke on January 19 at a Mary Kay leadership conference. He chronicled the changes that had occurred since 2020, used the term unprecedented many times, and noted "that it is a safe bet that change will continue and with the solid foundations of the culture and values of Mary Kay Cosmetics they will adapt the—changing to the situation. Rogers has a unique perspective by his position and is also the grandson of founder Mary Kay Ash. Ryan grew up learning His Grandmothers' Mindset.

The critical thing about mindset is that it is changeable. Your choices determine your mindset. Your mindset steers your network marketing business. Consider Pope Francis's thoughts again on mindset. From this crisis, we can come out better or worse. "We can slide backward, or we can create something new."

We all need a "check-up from the neck up at times." Mary Kay Ash

This month is a great time to check up on your Network Marketing Business lenses. Here are five questions to reflect on to start examining your Network Marketing Mindset

>What is your Mindset of learning and growing and success, Growth or Fixed? Do you act in an abundance of caution or an abundance of opportunity?

>What is your Mindset about your particular company or market? Is it fixed, or do you see growth? David Hull, C.E.O. of mary Kay and President of Mary Kay North America Nathan Moore both noted the shift in the economy is due to people seeing different ways to work.

>What is your network marketing Mindset about opportunity?. At the Mary Kay conference, Hull and Moore noted that the record numbers of people resigning or retiring could be viewed not as a tragedy but an opportunity. They could be viewed as new clients or team members. When one considers the primary causes of leaving a job, most cite poor leadership and not feeling valued and especially no freedom to work at home where primary reasons to leave what can you offer in your network marketing business to meet those needs.

>What is your Network Mindset about your client base? Many have suffered from the upheaval of the pandemic and the isolation it brought. How can you reach out to them? How can you be of service to them?

>What is your Network Marketing Mindset about Connecting on all levels? Do you reach out personally, on Social Media platforms, on Zoom? Do you send handwritten notes to clients and team members? These actions cause connection, which can grow your relationship with your business and your team.

Take some time and consider these five questions to see where your Network Marketing Mindset is doing well needs a tweak or maybe a complete overhaul. MaryKay used to refer to this process as a "Check up from the Neck up" The best results in a Network Marketing Mindset check-up are achieved working with a mentor, a trusted friend, or a coach. You could also use this process with your sales team, sales unit, or downline.

On final truth to this process is you have a choice. How you view things will be how you act on things.
