MINDSET – SUCCESS FROM THE INSIDE-OUT; BE THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR SHIP.
I use March as an excellent month for renewing and rejuvenating my growth plans, (just as spring weather does for plants in the colder climate areas). If you are like me, I kicked off January with a plan of action, and even though I’m charging forward, after a couple of months, I find that I need to regroup and refine those plans by the time March comes around. In life, I have realized that anything that is meant to have a terrific outcome, will always have hiccups not planned on, and that is a normal process of the journey to success.
One of my dear friends who owns a worldwide traditional business told me once when I asked her what she did every day, replied calmly, “Oh…I just put out fires.”.
I’m sixty-three and was new to network marketing when I joined two years ago. The timing was right for my husband’s and my needs, and we joined up. The seventy-seven-year-old friend who introduced us just joined up because of her son, and he just joined up because of his friend and so forth.
So, what happened, is that everyone close to me was all new, and there was no one to teach me anything, except what I could learn for myself. That didn’t stop me, as I was a single mom for fifteen years, with four children, no outside financial help, and lived away from family members most of that time, and I knew how to handle tough situations, and did.
I also have 40+ years of promotions and marketing experience and knew that I could learn the basics and utilize my skills to get started from that. I began having parties, which I love doing and started growing quickly.
Then covid hit two months later, and everyone had to stay at home. I never knew how to do zoom, but knew that was the next answer and studied with YouTube videos, practiced, and learned quickly how to do it. My daughter explained the basics with Canva, and I created all kinds of slides to do presentations and started on the growth upswing again.
Then fear set in as I didn’t know how to lead a team.
Momentum stopped completely. I then spent every waking hour of every day listening to YouTube videos from Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, and numerous others. As a single mom all those years, I knew how to help my kids and reward them when they accomplished what I asked them to do. I realized that I already had the skills needed and inched my way forward, still not as confident, and grew much slower.
What helped me get a handle on everything was utilizing what helped me stay positive and focused during my unexpected life experiences, combined with what I learned from YouTube mentors, and book authors in Network Marketing. I then bullet-pointed the strengths and wisdom that actually worked and ended up writing a book last fall titled,
“Newby 101-Network Marketing from the Inside Out.”
The realization I found, is that each one of us was born with all the character traits needed to become our very best and accomplish anything we put our minds to, regardless of where we grew up, or how we grew up. What unlocks those “Superpowers”, is when we find our Purpose and Passion and are Driven with such an unseen inside force. What keeps the momentum is:
/ Discovering what we want to accomplish in life…what legacy do we want to leave?
/ Having a plan of action that continues the momentum.
/ Having a clear vision of that action plan and momentum through photos, pictures.
/ Regroup every third month to fine-tune the plan.
/ Daily education and motivation.
/ Reward yourself for your hard work.
My husband John, (as a single mom, had a list of 53 items for my Mr. Perfect, as a huge wall, to keep me from making another relationship mistake. Surprisingly…I met a man who actually met them all….and we were married 11-11-11), worked at a local college for over 35 years, and only knew how to think like an employee. After we were married only one year, he had a brain aneurysm and was in intensive care for 3 weeks.
I knew our lives would change, and made the adjustments in our daily routine, he improved greatly from his short-term memory, yet still lacked confidence with teaching and leading in our business. So, since January 2022, my goal was to help him get comfortable with an entrepreneurial mindset.
It wasn’t Christine Campbell running our business, but the Power Team Couple, Christine, and John running our business. He has become my Power Team Partner.
We listed all of his strengths and what he can be extremely successful with, and I fit in my portion. We have visual photos I created that are posted in our office with the two of us as a power couple, and each of us has our own vision board in our bedroom and in our office, with goals that blend together.
We have our vision statements for 2022 as if we already reached our goals, and what we are doing each year in the next five years. We read this every morning after we write our five gratitudes for the day. We get up at 5 am, and our personal training, motivation, and exercise are all done by 8 am, where we shower and get started on our daily goals.
John and I have short-term daily, weekly, and monthly goals. Sundays are our personal days, and we have big rewards every two months. This works for us and keeps us in the ZONE. Yes…I took a step back to make sure my husband can do this with me, so we can have the same friends and travel to the same places.
We found a way to track our efforts and compare them weekly. All of this has started with our MINDSET to do this, not looking back. It starts from the INSIDE-OUT.
My hope and prayers are that we all continue to keep the pulse on our purpose and passion, building upon that which we already know, and continue to explore new education on a regular basis, while shifting our sails in accordance with the storms and the calms, and moving steadily forward.
May we always be the Captain of our Ship.
