Mentoring is a Relationship
Let us review three essential aspects of a mentor.

Let us review three essential aspects of a mentor.
You may have more than one mentor in your life.
Life –
o A life mentor can be that special person that has made a major impact in your life at school, perhaps as early as elementary or middle school, high school or often college. These mentors have made an impact on you at a very formative part of your early life. Often these mentors sparked an interest that planted a seed in you that grabbed your attention that put you on a path to want to know more.
o Another life mentor might enter your life at different times of new milestones such as a newlywed or a first time parent. Getting through these new challenging times are easier to navigate with a trusted mentor to get a glimpse into the future and how to handle challenges anticipated and unknown! These mentors are chosen by observing a person in your life who might have a handle on your issues, as a result of their successful experience. Quite often you find that your mentor has gone through the same uncertainties that you’re going through, making them a great choice of mentor!
God –
o Many people have a special relation with God in their life. They realize that it isn’t all about them. This relationship can be confusing at times and also can develop into a mature relationship. Many times this relationship matures as a result of a great mentor.
o One of the most gratifying relationships in my life has been with God. This relationship has been helped over three decades by a relationship with three great mentors. Seek them out, if this is important to you.
Business –
o A mentor in business is crucial for your success. Choose wisely! Be discerning. Many people will want you to follow them, but most will not qualify to be a great mentor for you to follow down the path to success. It’s important to look for a mentor who….
Has a proven track record of success themselves.
Teaches solid basic business building principles and truths.
Teaches systems that are proven to leverage your effort for maximizing your productivity.
Has a successful track record of helping others in their organization to reach levels of success that you are seeking.
o Other business mentors are more generic and not associated with your company. Beware of some of these people. You need to choose wisely who you follow.
They need to………
Teach you the wisdom of the ages. At The Network Marketing Magazine some of the best mentors that fall into this category are…..
Jim Rohn
Zig Ziglar
Denis Waitley
Shad Helmstetter
Tom “Big Al” Schreiter
And one of my very favorite is, Dale Calvert
Stay away from those who want to entertain you. If you want to be entertained, go to the movies or see a show. You’re in it to succeed in your business. A mentor should be feeding you with information and activities that you need to put into action when you start your day the very next day.
Mentoring will help you in all aspects of your life. Choose wisely and leverage what you’ve learned to succeed.
Once you have achieved levels of success in areas that you have been mentored in, don’t hesitate to mentor others that are in need!
