4 Important Points about Duplicating

First of all, can your team do what you do? The answer is yes AND no. It all depends on you defining what it is you are doing.

Can your team do what you do? Do you want them to do what you do? Do you know what you are doing? What is duplication anyway? If we are successful we might want our people to duplicate what we do. If we’re not successful we may not want our people to duplicate what we do. Many times we’re not sure what we should be doing ourselves! First of all, can your team do what you do? The answer is yes AND no. It all depends on you defining what it is you are doing.

If you are doing things that are good practices for building a good business, then you will probably want to encourage this. If you are doing something so out of the ordinary, the frustration may be counter productive. You may want to stick to the basics of building a good foundation of first understanding all you can about your product or service, your company and their leaders and what the company wants you to know.

Second, do you want them to do what you do? Again, sometime yes and sometime no. You have gotten to a place of success and if you can put your finger on those things that got you there then share it with your people and have them duplicate it.

Like so many other people, we have wasted our time and have made mistakes (some big mistakes.) We want to use these as learning

opportunities so our people don’t have to repeat them on their own. Be a teacher and cut the learning time by skipping the mistakes that you have made.

Third, do you know what you are doing? The answer is we should be always improving and learning. There are always people we can learn from. If we are not getting better we are getting worse. If our team and our business isn’t growing it’s dying. Grow, Grow, Grow!

Fourth is, what is duplication? Duplication is something that can help you or hurt you. Make sure that you are aware of what your team is picking up from you. Duplicate the best of the best!
